Daddy's been working late the past week or two, and often isn't home until bedtime. The kids miss him, and each kid is dealing with it in different ways. M has been talking on the phone to Daddy frequently. She came out of her room this week after a long conversation and said:
"I called Daddy on my pretend phone and he told me he was on his way home."
I get a kick out of this girl's imagination, and the fact that she fully knows she is pretending, yet she completely convinced herself that Daddy was going to walk in the door at any instant.
